A New Zealand scientist has offered a schoolboy $100 for his six-legged frog
Brett Wilson, a seven year old boy from New Zealand, found a green tree frog with six legs on a friend's farm. He found this unusual animal while fishing for tadpoles. The frogs' left rear leg doesn't move, but both front legs are normal. Brett said Frog could not jump but he could swim and wiggle his toes.
Biologist, Dr. Nick Ling, with the Waikato University wants to buy the frog for $100 to determine why it has an extra pair of legs. Dr. Ling believes the frog's deformities could be the result of pollution, or a glitch in nature. He said that frog's were declining worldwide, because of pollutants in waterways.
Dr Ling also says that "The chemically-induced deformities almost always involve hind limbs."
Brett was undecided whether to sell Frog to the university, and wants to keep him as a pet because he's different that other frogs he's caught.
